FAQ: FAQ

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

For those that have extremely limited incomes, university students or teenagers paying out of pocket, we do offer a limited amount of "sliding scale" therapy spots.

Please email or call to inquire about this option should you be interested.

Please note, due to high demand of sliding scale, we can not guarantee that a spot will be available.

What are your fees for psychotherapy services?

Fees at Guiding Light Counselling are $150.00 (plus HST) for individual psychotherapy per session. Fees are payable at the end of each session, unless we make other arrangements.

Requests for additional documentation or reports are charged at my usual hourly rate.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

I require a full 24 hours notice for the cancellation of an appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full rate of the session.

*On occassion this fee will be waived in execptional cicumstances. Your care will always be my first priority, please contact me with any questions you may have.

Does OHIP cover psychotherapy services?

While psychotherapy is a regulated health professions in Ontario, unfortunately psychotherapy services are not covered under OHIP at this time.

The majority of extended health benefits and employer benefits do cover psychotherapy services. I encourage you to speak with your insurance provider about counselling services provided by a registered psychotherapist to determine your eligibility and approved rates of coverage.

Psychotherapy services provided by registered psychotherapist is recognized as an income tax deductible medical expense by Revenue Canada.
